This cel is from a flashback showing Shido before he became a vampire. He appears to be in a trance here, as Cain is drawing him towards him.
I got this cel signed by Takumi Yamazaki (Shido's voice actor) at
Anime Expo 2001. I have seen him there in 2000 and 2001, and he seems
to be a really cool guy. At AX 2001, it was as if no one even knew who
he was since he wasn't an official guest nor was he given any real
introduction. He looked really surprised when he saw the Shido cel!
